Social Entrepreneurship is a concept that has fast caught the world's attention as an effective means to address global solutions. The concept of a latent opportunity at the base of the economic pyramid, made popular by Late Prof C.K. Prahlad, has been validated by a diverse range of organizations like ITC, ICICI, Jaipur Rugs and new players like SELCO, FabIndia and SKS among others. While organizations are increasingly realizing the potential of reaching out to this neglected consumer/supplier base, the talent that they are recruiting is not equipped with the skills to effectively strategize and operationalize at this segment.

Through its Social Entrepreneurship Workshop Series, NSEF endeavours to train the students at the top professional colleges in India to the power of social entrepreneurship in the evolving global landscape which is fast embracing this idea of a 'new capitalism'. NSEF's workshop series has been designed with the special intent of enabling students to spot hidden opportunities amongst the untargeted millions in India and learn how to construct a system of mutual benefit. The workshops have a hands-on, activity based pedagogy ably supported by original primary research conducted over the last three years.

The workshops, which run under a problem solving and analytical framework, are adaptable to include live problems of organizations who can get novel and innovative ideas from an engaged class of India's top talent from the various premier academic institutes. The intent for NSEF is to introduce students to social problems and teach them how to design market based solutions for them; which fits perfectly with the needs of an organization wishing to generate a cache of innovative and interesting approaches to successfully taking an opportunity at the BOP. At the heart of this approach is NSEF's team of creative and strong facilitators which includes entrepreneurs and academicians in the social sector.

We foresee synergies with several stakeholders in this ecosystem including academic institutes which want to induct a course on social entrepreneurship at their college, organizations focused at developing strategies to successfully generate a double bottom line and student and alumni bodies with a focus to up-skilling their members and making them global leaders.
